Located in the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage-listed Douro Valley, Six Senses Douro Valley is touched with the romance of 19th century architecture wedded to contemporary interiors reflecting the inimitable Six Senses style.

Set on a hill boasting views of the terraced vineyards of the UNESCO World Heritage Douro valley and the Douro River, this newly renovated 19th century manor house offers guests therapeutic spa retreats, wine tastings and a mirror-effect outdoor infinity pool.

Enfolded by a philosophy of creating experiences while concerning about the environment in which it is inserted, Six Senses Douro Valley combines elegance with the reality and history of the region, boasting a décor based on natural materials such as wood and stone. Rooms at the Six Senses feature contemporary interiors, are air-conditioned, have a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a private bathroom with bath, a rain shower and free toiletries.

At the Wine Library guests will find more than 750 references of vintages from the region, collected by two wine directors, and a variety of tapas and cheeses to complement the wine tastings. The hotel’s Vale Abraão restaurant combines 3 ambiences, including an open kitchen, a wood burning stove and a fine dining, offering guests gourmet and international cuisine delights. A varied buffet breakfast including sweet and savoury dishes is served each morning.

The 8-hectare property covers a number of relaxing and meditation open-air areas in the surrounding woods, as well as an organic garden of vegetables and herbs. Wellness and Yoga programs are available and the Six Senses Spa has 10 treatment rooms and offers a variety of therapies, some of which are grape and wine based. Guests can also relax in the heated indoor pool with water jets, aromatic saunas, arctic showers and soft water beds, or retire to the library and peruse a book whist enjoying a fine wine or a cocktail. A gym with professional guidance is also at guests’ disposal.
